The Issue

Friends and colleagues of mine have expressed the desire to emigrate to our country, but there is a significant obstacle: the banned dogs list. Some of them own dogs that are either on this list or breeds that could potentially be deemed similar. This becomes a deterrent to their emigration plans.

On one hand, the government encourages immigration and markets it as a beneficial prospect. Yet, it seems there is a double standard when it comes to man's best friend. Dogs are being judged by their breed rather than their behavior, mirroring an unfair one-size-fits-all policy.

Dogs are more than just pets or accessories; they are family members and companions. The focus should be on the training they receive and the responsibility of their owners, rather than blanket bans based on breed alone.

Revising the banned dogs list to consider individual circumstances and behaviors, rather than relying on breed designation, could make it easier for new families to settle here, while maintaining public safety.

The government should install a qualification or certificate of authenic behavioural training in the same way a member of the public would have a drivers license, identity card, national insurance number.

Hundreds of dogs are taken away because of how they look, the breeds they are associated with. Thats not right or fair. Its not what they preach for humanity and human rights, why is it different for man's best friend .

The law needs to change.

Please sign this petition to urge the government to reconsider and revise the current banned dogs list. Let's ensure that decisions are based on facts and fairness, benefiting both our communities and those longing to make this country their new home.
