Revise MRB rules for Anganwadi workers seeking promotion
The Issue
I am reaching out from Pavithram village in the Thiruvannamalai district of Tamil Nadu. I am an Anganwadi worker who has completed promotion training for Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) under the Tamil Nadu government. I was nearly at the end of my training, having completed 1 year and 10 months of the 24-month training period, when an unexpected government order (G.O.) concerning the Medical Recruitment Board (MRB) was announced. This order has drastically affected my chances of securing a position as it introduced new rules for job appointments without prior notice, which is deeply unfair to those of us who were already in advanced stages of our training.
During my training, I achieved 83% of the passing mark, demonstrating my dedication and commitment to serving the community. Despite this, the sudden implementation of new MRB rules has disrupted my career path, as positions are now being allocated based on caste criteria which was not communicated before the training commenced.
The MRB's rules have become a barrier for many, like myself, who have invested years in training with the expectation of achieving secure employment based on merit and diligence. The lack of transparency and sudden changes have caused immense distress and halted our professional progress, undermining our trust in the system implemented by the government.
I urge the authorities to revisit and revise these MRB rules to provide a fair opportunity for Anganwadi workers who are on the brink of completing their training. The initial rules were based on merit, offering a fair competitive environment, and any changes should consider the invested time and efforts of the trainees.
Re-evaluating the criteria for appointment and ensuring announcements are made transparently before such crucial policy changes take place will help restore trust and provide a fair chance to those who have worked diligently towards their professional goals.
Please sign this petition to support the call for fair recruitment practices and a revision of the newly imposed MRB regulations, ensuring equitable opportunities for all dedicated trainees who wish to serve their community. Together, we can make a difference.
