Our town currently has an ordinance in place barring the ownership of hens within city limits. This presents unnecessary restrictions on bird-, pet-, and farm-lovers alike. Hens can provide a valuable contribution to households through the fresh supply of eggs, organic pest control, and also act as wonderful pets. Studies have shown that keeping hens can be beneficial in promoting mental wellbeing and teaching responsible pet ownership to children. It's time to revise the town chicken ordinance to allow residents to reap the benefits of raising hens.
