Revise KADSIECOM's Inconsistent Guidelines and Allow Aspirants to Pay their Levies

The Issue

As a citizen of Kaduna State who was denied his right to contest or choose a competent leader of his choice due to inconsistent and potentially exclusionary guidelines. I call on KADSIECOM, Senator Uba Sani, Kaduna State Assembly, National Assemblies, Attorney General of the State and federation, National INEC chairman and Nigerian president His Excellency, Ahmad Bola Tinibu to intervene in rectifying these issues immediately.

The current two contradictory guidelines require aspirants to pay a fee of N50,000 for councillorship and N200,000 for chairmanship positions in one document, while contradicting these amounts with levies of N500,000 and N2,000,000 respectively in another.

The inconsistency is not only confusing but denies qualified individuals the opportunity to participate in the electoral process.

Denying Kaduna State citizens their preferred candidates impacts negatively on the principle of free and fair elections. In a democratic society, it is crucial that citizens have the opportunity to choose from diverse candidates representing different ideologies, interests, and backgrounds. This situation threatens democracy and stifles the voice of the people.

To this end, we demand that KADSIECOM revise these contradictory guidelines, extension of the election date, reopen the portal for aspirants to pay their levies, and ensure clarity and fairness in the electoral process. We appeal to your conscience and obligation towards establishing an equitable democratic process.

Sign this petition to demand fairness and equal opportunities in our electoral process. Thank you for supporting our struggle for justice, fairness and equity in keeping with good governance.
