The issue

The recruitment process for the Aviation Security Officer position at Sydney Airport, managed by Certis Security, has left several applicants, including myself, feeling disheartened and professionally undermined due to various inadequacies and instances of discourtesy by the HR department.

My journey began on 24 April 2025, when I was invited to an Assessment Day scheduled for 28 April. On this day, I actively participated in an engaging assessment session, completed a Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) quiz, and attended a comprehensive presentation. Up until this point, the process felt promising and well-executed.

However, things took a downturn when on 1 May, I was scheduled for an ASIC appointment on 2 May. The interactions thereafter highlighted a concerning lack of professionalism from the HR team, which included unclear communication and an unexpectedly cold demeanor during the appointments and follow-up interactions.

The recruitment team should prioritize respectful communication and transparency to ensure candidates feel valued throughout the process. By instituting training and improved procedural guidelines, Certis Security can significantly enhance their recruitment pipeline, thereby hiring individuals truly committed to safeguarding Sydney Airport.

This petition calls upon Certis Security and stakeholders at Sydney Airport to review and refine their recruitment procedures, prioritizing candidate experience, fairness, and professionalism. A better recruitment process not only benefits the applicants but also ensures that Sydney Airport is secured by competent and motivated personnel. Sign this petition to advocate for these essential changes.
