Revert Castro Valley Unified School District's Involuntary Transfer Decision

Revert Castro Valley Unified School District's Involuntary Transfer Decision
The Issue
This plea stems from a personal situation that has affected not just my family, but our entire community. Aimee and Henna have been the pillars of our community, demonstrating compassion, integrity, and dedication to countless students, including my own children. Their involuntary transfer is unsettling; it feels more like punishment for speaking out rather than a decision made with our children's best interest in mind.
Sadly, the Castro Valley Unified School District has decided to involuntarily move these pillars of our society to different school sites. This decision not only disrupts the educational stability our children are entitled to, but also sends a disheartening message that educators are not deserving of respect and protection, but are subject to retaliation.
Teacher turnover already places a hefty toll on student achievement. A report by the Learning Policy Institute found that students lose between 2 months to a year of learning every time a teacher leaves. This decision could exacerbate this issue in our community. Most importantly, it denies our students the stability they deserve, and our teachers the respect they are due.
For these reasons, we remain adamant in our request for the Castro Valley Unified School District to reconsider their decision and to ensure the voices within our community get the attention they deserve. Stand with us, sign this petition to ensure Aimee and Henna remain in their current school, where they belong, and where they help our children thrive.
