Reverse the road diet on Bingle Rd

Reverse the road diet on Bingle Rd
The Issue
Since the implementation of the "road diet" on Bingle Road, we've witnessed a significant increase in cut-through traffic on Brighton Place streets. This diversion is more than just an inconvenience; it's creating genuinely unsafe conditions for our community. Residents, pedestrians, and especially children, are at heightened risk due to the increased traffic flow, and something must be done promptly to address this.
The "road diet"—an initiative intended to calm traffic by reducing lanes on Bingle Road—has inadvertently led to unintended consequences for adjoining neighborhoods. As vehicles search for alternate routes, they're flooding residential areas (Brighton Place) that were not designed to handle such high volumes of traffic.
The City of Spring Valley must reconsider its approach to the road diet and immediately undertake a comprehensive study of neighborhood traffic volumes, speeds, and crash risks (recent 3 car wreck on Bingle). Such a review should be followed by actionable steps to mitigate these dangers. Solutions such as traffic calming measures, appropriate signage, enforcement of turn restrictions, and increased traffic law enforcement should be prioritized. Additionally, community engagement in this process is crucial to ensure that the voices of our residents are heard.
The goal is to restore the safety and tranquility of our streets. The implementation of the road diet without addressing the secondary effects on surrounding neighborhoods is unacceptable.
Sign this petition to demand a reversal of the road diet on Bingle Road and the adoption of meaningful measures that safeguard our neighborhood and all who travel through it.
