The Issue

Stop HB1003 – STOP VAPE BAN‼️ A Devastating Blow to Lives, Livelihoods, and Progress

As a business owner who provides vaping products, House Bill HB1003 is not just legislation — it’s a direct threat to my livelihood and the stability of countless others. This bill doesn’t merely aim to regulate. It threatens to dismantle an entire industry. From smoke shops and gas stations to small bar owners, this ban could force hardworking individuals toward bankruptcy, shattering the local economy in its wake.

The reality is far more personal than political. HB1003 will put over 1,000 North Dakota employees at risk, devastate over 100 local businesses, and leave entire communities scrambling to survive. But beyond the economic fallout lies something even more troubling: the human toll.

Vaping has changed lives. For hundreds of thousands of former smokers, it was a lifeline — a path away from deadly tobacco products. If this bill passes, many will return to cigarettes, undoing years of progress in public health and addiction recovery. We won’t just lose jobs; we’ll lose lives.

The American Vaping Association reports a $10 billion industry supporting over 10,000 vape shops and 166,000 jobs across the country. Eliminating this market will open the door to illicit trade, unregulated products, and accidental poisonings — dangers far greater than the problem this bill claims to solve.

This is about more than products on shelves. This is about people. Families. Freedom of choice. And the ability to build a better life.

On behalf of the thousands of employees, business owners, and former smokers who rely on this industry, I’m asking you: sign this petition. Help us stand against HB1003. Help us preserve our future, our health, and our hope.
