Reverse the HOA Fee Increase for Lakeshore and Cottages Residents

The Issue

I live in the Lakeshore neighborhood, a close-knit community where every dollar in our budget matters. Recently, we were informed about the impending HOA price increase for 2025 which we and our fellow residents stand strongly against. Our community shares the same HOA with Summer Grove yet we have far fewer amenities to enjoy. From lifeguards to restrictions on rental properties and home/lawn care enforcement, Summer Grove enjoys a plethora of benefits while we are left with one pool, a tattered tennis court, one small park and an unkept lake with small dock the dog waste bin, neighborhood trash cans and pool trash pile up for weeks before they are emptied. The flowers at the entrance are hardly changed and many homes and lawns are eyesores. There are too many rental properties to count and even an Airbnb, which should not be allowed at all. The renters are not held to a high enough standard with home and lawn care and their properties are in array for months. As Lakeshore homeowners we have had enough. There is no way we should be expected to pay an increased HOA fee when the company can’t even answer or return our calls. No one at the company is invested in the quality of our neighborhood, as it’s only gotten worse since we moved here in 2019. Furthermore, we pay way too much for the pool company attendants to sit at the the pool on their phones, allowing their friends and siblings to join them, sleeping on the job, and even conducting swim lessons while on duty. There is no reason for us to pay anyone to sit there, unless they are lifeguards (which Summer Grove has). We are capable of filling out a log of guests and there are cameras at the pool, if someone is breaking a rule or binging too many people in- take away their key card. We don’t even have a club house at our pool (Summer Grove does and they have multiple pools). The disparity in amenities questions the equity of our HOA fees.

A price increase would not only burden our community but feed into an already flawed system that fails to deliver the services we deserve. Hence, we demand that the HOA re-evaluates the fee structure and lowers our costs to match our service provision. We believe this move will reflect a fair distribution of the HOA fees and hopefully, push for much-needed upgrades to our amenities. This reduction in HOA fees will breathe life back into our neighborhood, making it the thriving community it should be.

We urge residents to stand together and join us in petitioning against this unjust price increase. Let's raise our voices and bring about change for Lakeshore and the cottages residents. Please sign this petition if you believe in equitable HOA fee distribution and want the HOA fees to return to $400 annually.
