Reverse the Ban on Certain Dog Breeds in India

The Issue

We are sending this petition with deep concern over the government's decision to ban certain dog breeds that are considered "dangerous" in India. While we understand the need for public safety and responsible pet ownership, we believe that a blanket ban on certain breeds is unfair and ineffective. We call on the government to reconsider this policy and focus instead on comprehensive measures to promote responsible pet ownership and ensure public safety.

First, it is important to understand that a dog's behavior is primarily influenced by its upbringing, environment and training, and not only by race. Punishing entire races based on the actions of a few is unfair and discriminatory. Dogs of any breed can be loving companions and valuable members of society if raised with care and responsibility.

In addition, banning certain breeds does not address the root causes of dog incidents such as lack of training, neglect. ownership and inadequate enforcement of existing laws. Instead of bans, we call on the government to allocate resources to initiatives that promote responsible pet ownership, including mandatory licensing, vaccination and training programs for all dog owners.

In addition, banning certain breeds could lead to an increase in illegal breeding. and underground markets that exacerbate the problem rather than solve it. Such bans also present challenges to responsible owners who may already own dogs of prohibited breeds, forcing them into difficult situations or even leading to euthanasia of innocent animals.

We understand the importance of public safety and understand the problems associated with certain breeds known for its strength and size. However, we believe that race-based legislation is not the most effective way to address these problems. Instead, we propose enforcing breed-neutral laws that focus on holding owners accountable for the actions of their pets and promoting education and awareness about dog behavior and responsible ownership.

Finally, we urge the government to reconsider its decision to ban some. dogs breed and instead adopt a more holistic and effective approach to promote public safety and responsible pet ownership in India.
