The recent decision by Leeds Integrated Care Board (ICB) to stop funding hearing aids at Guiseley Specsavers has left many in our community without access to essential hearing services. This abrupt change has affected hundreds of people who rely on these services for their daily communication needs. According to Action on Hearing Loss, approximately 11 million people in the UK have some form of hearing loss, and this number is expected to rise by 40% by 2035. By discontinuing funding, Leeds ICB is denying a basic health service that can significantly impact the quality of life for those with hearing impairments.
