Eight months ago, I lost my wife. Since then, my sole source of income has been my state pension. The unbearable reality of this hardship has been brought into stark focus now that the Labour government has decided to discontinue the Winter Fuel Payment. The Winter Fuel Payment has been a lifeline for many low-income pensioners like me, helping us manage our heating bills during the bitterly cold winter months.

However, their recent decision to cut this essential resource has left countless individuals like me to struggle with the chilling prospect of unaffordable heating costs. In 2002, there were 25,700 more deaths in winter months compared to non-winter months due to conditions exacerbated by cold homes (source: Office for National Statistics). Who knows how much that number will rise with these cuts?

The Labour government's cuts are compromising the safety and well-being of its citizens. Join me in calling for a reversal of this decision.
