We are students, challenged not by the complexity of education, but by an unbalanced grading system that overlooks our strengths and magnifies our weaknesses. In Fairfax County Public Schools, the current system weighs test grades as 70% of the total grade. This disproportionately high weighting has become a significant cause of anxiety for students like us, who, while competent in understanding and applying the subject matter, struggle to excel in exam environments.

This means that countless students may be wrongfully assessed, their academic potentials obscured due to a single measure that fails to encapsulate their true abilities.

Our plea is not for a complete removal of tests but a revamp of the grading system. A system that takes into account the hard work, effort, and practical application of students across components, not just testing.
