Reunite Everleigh Grace Landrum With Her Family and Ensure Her Safety

The Issue

A Texas child has been separated from her biological family and placed in an unlicensed foster home, despite the availability of her siblings and extended family. Everleigh Grace Landrum cannot speak for herself. This petition asks state authorities to verify her safety, restore visibility, and reconsider family placement — before more harm is done. Statement of Concern My name is Alexis Landrum, and I am the biological mother of Everleigh Grace Landrum. Everleigh is a young and vibrant child who was removed from my care at birth in January 2024 by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS).  Since that removal, I have lived in a state of constant anguish, fear, and helplessness. Everleigh was kept at the hospital immediately following her birth and removed under circumstances I believe involved false claims, procedural irregularities, and demonstrated bias. From that moment forward, my daughter and I became entangled in a system that repeatedly obstructed reunification rather than working toward it. After a prolonged case marked by significant barriers to family placement and reunification, my parental rights were terminated. This outcome was not voluntary, despite the court ultimately accepting a document styled as a “voluntary relinquishment.” That judgment remains disputed. This petition is not filed to inflame emotions or assign guilt, but to request accountability, transparency, and an immediate review of my daughter’s safety and placement. As a mother, I am asking the public to help ensure that a child in state custody is protected in accordance with the law. Circumstances Surrounding Termination of Parental Rights For nearly two years, I demonstrated consistent engagement, compliance, progress, and commitment to reunification. Despite this, I encountered escalating coercive pressure designed to force a relinquishment of rights rather than permit a fair and fully informed adjudication. In July, my parental rights were permanently severed by the Grayson County Family Court in coordination with DFPS. I was confronted with a choice between signing under extreme pressure or facing a rushed trial despite the absence of prepared counsel and the exclusion of critical evidence in my possession. No evidence supporting the allegations against me was presented on my behalf, despite prior assurances it would be allowed. This process raises profound concerns about due process, informed consent, and fundamental fairness, particularly where the outcome permanently severed a child from her biological family. Current Placement and Safety Concerns Everleigh is currently placed in a non-relative, non-licensed foster home, despite the existence of biological siblings and extended family members who were legally recognized as intervenors and supported by both parents. This placement raises serious red flags: It is unlicensed, requiring heightened oversight It is not family-based, despite viable family options Family visitation has been severely restricted, drastically limiting visibility into Everleigh’s welfare The placement has been connected to prior allegations, necessitating transparency and verification Multiple reports of sexual abuse associated with the placement have been raised, yet family members have received no clear confirmation of resolution, findings, or corrective action Children placed in unlicensed environments are entitled to more monitoring and transparency, not less. Legal and Child Welfare Framework Texas child welfare policy and widely accepted national best practices emphasize: Child safety as the primary concern Family-based placement as the preferred option when safe and available Regular visitation and contact to preserve emotional and psychological stability Prompt investigation and documented response to abuse allegations Ongoing oversight and licensing compliance for all placements When these safeguards are compromised, children are exposed to preventable and unacceptable risk. Why Public Attention Is Necessary Everleigh is too young to advocate for herself. When family contact is restricted and oversight is unclear, community attention becomes a critical safeguard. This petition is not an accusation of guilt. It is a call for verification. If Everleigh is safe, that safety should be clearly demonstrated, documented, and communicated. If deficiencies exist, they must be addressed immediately and transparently.   What We Are Respectfully Requesting We call upon DFPS, Empower, TFI, and appropriate oversight authorities to: Conduct an immediate, independent review of Everleigh Grace Landrum’s placement Confirm and publicly document the licensing status and compliance of the foster home Ensure a documented welfare check and comprehensive safety assessment Address all reported abuse concerns with transparency and accountability Restore appropriate and meaningful family visitation Re-evaluate family-based placement and reunification options These actions protect not only Everleigh, but the integrity of the child welfare system itself. A Mother’s Appeal This petition is written with careful, measured language — but it is born from profound fear. No parent should live without confirmation that their child is safe. No child in state care should be hidden from visibility and oversight. Everleigh deserves safety, stability, and connection. I am asking the public to help ensure those rights are honored. Please sign and share this petition. Your support calls for oversight, accountability, and child safety — values that protect all children in care. Reunite Everleigh Grace Landrum with her family, or at the very least, ensure that she is safe, visible, and properly protected.
