Reunite Elephants from the Viral Photo

Reunite Elephants from the Viral Photo
The Issue
Elephants can live up to 70 years it may not be too late!
In December 2016, a moving image was captured on a highway in India: two elephants, reportedly accustomed to one another, reached across separate trucks in a tender trunk-to-trunk embrace - a possible farewell before being taken to different destinations for human use, service, or tourism.
This moment has traveled the world online, touching countless hearts. Yet, years later, no one knows where these elephants are, or if they were ever reunited.
The mission is simple, with two steps:
Step 1: Find out where these elephants ended up.
• Identify the elephants in the photograph.
• Confirm their current status and location.
• Bring transparency to their story.
Step 2: Reunite them
• Work with wildlife organizations, sanctuaries, and officials to bring them together.
• Advocate for their long-term well-being, whether through reunion, sanctuary placement, or protection.
Why this matters:
•Elephants form lifelong emotional bonds and suffer deeply when separated.
•This photo is more than a viral image — it is a call for action and compassion.
•By seeking answers, we can highlight the broader issue of elephant welfare and inspire change.
We call on:
•Wildlife authorities in India.
•NGOs such as Wildlife SOS, Wildlife Trust of India, and WWF-India.
•Journalists, photographers, and everyday people who may hold clues.
• You! <3
You may not be able to help every creature in the world but you can help the one right in front of you ♥️
