Return to standard grading practices

The Issue

The last few years as a parent have been tough in regards to our kids’ education. We need more transparency, not less,  in regard to how our children are mastering grade level standards.

During COVID, Lexington District 1 adopted a new grading system that offers little insight for parents into how their children are mastering curriculum. The M, PM, NYM marks on report cards and progress reports are vague, at best.

Children in the district return to standard grading practices in middle school which seems quite problematic considering that is quite a transitional time in a child’s education already.

Parents across the district seem very concerned and not in support of the new grading practices. Parents would like to see standard grading practices brought back to grades 3-5 to prepare the children for middle school and also to allow parents to be more educated on their child‘s progress.
