The 2023 local elections take place across England tomorrow (4th May) and it's vital to remember that you need to take identification with you.
Mandatory ID is a new addition to the process and you will be unable to cast your vote without it, in these important local elections.
There are a number of acceptable forms you can take, including:
- Passport
- Driving License
- Older or Disabled Person's Bus Pass
- Oyster 60+ Card
For a full list of options, please click here.
These elections are crucial for affecting local issues, including holding your local water company to account.
Whilst I wouldn't presume to tell anybody which way to vote, I feel compelled to say that the Conservative Party have, in my view, behaved disgracefully on the issue of sewage pollution, blaming everybody but themselves for this devastating practice and frequently misleading and gaslighting the public to mask their inaction.
If sewage pollution affects you and your community, this is something to keep in mind.
Regardless of which way you vote, though, the most important thing is to vote if you can.
Lastly, I'm thrilled to say that SOS Whitstable have officially launched a website which can be accessed here: https://www.soswhitstable.com/
