The Issue

We, the residents of Miami Beach demand the full reconstruction of the historic 1934 Log Cabin at its original location and to its original size. Once the oldest standing structure in North Beach, this Log Cabin served as a symbol of neighborhood identity—an inviting community space that welcomed everyone, including people with disabilities, and a cherished point of pride for long-time residents. It grounded a shared sense of community and place.

In 2017, the City of Miami Beach dismantled the Log Cabin overnight to make way for business interests that never materialized.

We, the Residents of Miami Beach, now call on the city government to use the preserved materials, restore them thoughtfully, and rebuild the Log Cabin at 8100 Collins Avenue, where it rightfully belongs. We further demand that the rebuilt facility be returned to the community for inclusive, public use. Funding has already been approved and allocated to this end through the G.O. Bond process.  There is no reason for any more delays.

The time to restore and rebuild the Log Cabin is NOW.

We, the residents of Miami Beach, call on the City Commission to act swiftly, honor its commitment to preserving our heritage, and reintegrate this beloved landmark back into the fabric of our neighborhood.

PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE NOT ASKING FOR DONATIONS AT THIS TIME!  (if you get a solicitation, it comes from this platform and not from us, and it is OPTIONAL)
