I will do this Petition in three (3) parts.

 

1, Why I am starting this and who am I?

2, What I hope this petition will accomplish.

3, Why now, or at all?

Some "first things first".

A) English is not my native language so I do apologize for mistakes in grammar, pronunciations, ect. B) You might have things you want to add to this petition and I might forget some parts and / or leave out parts so I urge everyone reading this to either comment on this petition or read through the comment section, if applicable here. C) I ask you to always respect TLM and Endava, but I suppose mostly TLM in their decision to close down this game. I don't think any of us players or the then current owners wanted to shut the game down but that is the reality of it, it is not and was not our decision so keep it civil both here and in regards to said companies mentioned above. Without further ado;

1. Why am I starting this petition, and who am I? 

Who I am is not that important, suffice to say I have over 6.000(!)+ hours in the game Heroes and Generals on both Steam and with the standalone version combined. I am what you could call a veteran and I played this game near every single day for years. I am not one of their longest or best supporters by far, but I did play and support (financially as well) this game a lot. The reason I am starting this petition is simply because I know that a lot of you out there and my self included really really want to play this game again and feel that it should never have been shut down in the first place. Although, as said earlier, that was a decision that was out of our reach as a community / playerbase. 

 

2. What I hope this petition will accomplish?

As bluntly and openly as I can put it: That us who wants to play this game (Heroes & Generals) will be able to do so again. Be it community ran or for the servers to be back up again as they were before they closed down.

3. Why now, or at all?

Why now? Because we are coming up on the 1 year anniversary since this game closed down (May 25th 2023) so what better time than now. This game's social media accounts are still up (Reddit, Twitter/X, Instagram, ect) and Reddit still has around 14.000 members with almost weekly new posts. There are projects out there that are trying to make a similar game using the UE5 and long story short, there is still a market for this game even a year after it closed down.

Why even make this petition at all?

Because my research on this matter along with my honest belief that there is a market for a re-release lead me to at least try something. As the saying goes "You can't win if you don't try"

 

I urge everyone reading this or anyone that is still missing this game to make your voice heard and let the current owners know that we still want to play H&G.

Either by releasing the game to the public, as-is. Selling the rights to the public (I'm sure we have people that would love to buy the game and maintain it supported/unsupported me included), or by re-opening the servers.

The game could be made F2P (free-to-play) again or for instance a 12$/mo subscription fee added to cover server costs. The RTS/WAR side could even be shut down for a while so that the server maintenance / costs are as low as the can be upon initial release. Or until something can be done to the game to have it being ran be the community.

 

I ask the owners or whoever has the rights as of today 18th of April 2024 to consider talking to the community on social media (Reddit?) and let us together find a way to bring this game back to the public. The more time that passes the more this game and its memory will slip through our fingers.
