Return Kira Bryant to Her Role as a Social Worker in Westbury UFSD

The Issue

Kira Bryant, a tenured New York State Licensed and Certified Social Worker with 17 years of experience, has been reassigned from her role within the Westbury Union Free School District (UFSD). Currently assigned to Pupil Personnel at the Administrative Building, Ms. Bryant is unable to perform her vital work with children and families in our community.

Ms. Bryant's dedication and commitment have made a significant impact on countless lives throughout her career. She has worked across all district schools, mentoring students and coaching students and families through challenging times. Her legacy extends beyond school walls into community programs such as Cub Scout Pack #233, Summer and Afterschool Programs, PAL Chums Village Project (Co-Founder), where she tirelessly advocated for residents regardless of their nationality or economic status.

This reassignment not only deprives Ms. Bryant of fulfilling her passion but also denies our children access to an experienced professional who can provide essential support during crucial stages of their development.

The decision to remove Ms. Bryant from direct service work undermines the very essence of social work - helping individuals overcome challenges and improve their lives - which she has done so effectively for nearly two decades in Westbury UFSD.

We call upon the administration of Westbury UFSD to reconsider this decision and return Kira Bryant back to her rightful position as a social worker where she can continue making positive changes in our community's lives.

Please sign this petition if you believe that every child deserves access to dedicated professionals like Ms. Bryant who are committed to improving their future prospects.
