Return and Earn bin baskets.
The issue
Newcastle make the change.
When you walk outside how many drink containers do you see? How many bins do you see? If we put our specifically designed metal baskets on the back of these bins, it will decrease landfill in the area by 80% . That kind of improvement to our land will give our earth more years if we can implement them all around the world. This has been proven by Georges River Council who installed the Return and Earn bins on the back of public bins at, Kogarah CBD ,Hurstville CBD ,Carss Bush Park, Carss Park ,Poulton Park and Hurstville Grove. This is a bin that helps to save thousands of drink containers from going into our ocean. It reduces the pollution of our soil, drinking water, oceans, and animals. This is a bin that could change someone's life by giving them a meal and enough to get some form of shelter for the rubbish that was going to go into our ocean.
The bins help more than just our environment.
They help us in protecting our oceans, waterways and broader environment. Using these bins means there is so much less waste in our landfill facilities. But they can also help people that might be struggling, let me elaborate the bins have an open layout making it easily accessible to members of the public that do Return and Earn or that use it to have enough money for a meal which is the sad truth with our world today. If just 24 people put a bottle or can in the bin, someone will have enough for a balanced meal of 2.10L of water, a can of corn and a can of tuna. That rubbish that was going to end up in our waterways or soil has now given someone a meal.
SDG Sustainable Development Goals.
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a set of 17 global objectives established by the United Nations to create a more sustainable, equitable, and better future for all. Among their key priorities is protecting the environment, ensuring access to clean water, reducing pollution, and promoting the responsible use of natural resources. Achieving these goals is essential for preserving ecosystems, restoring damaged habitats, and safeguarding the health of our rivers, oceans, and communities. The public return and earn bins I intend on including in our area, would help preserve these ecosystems by reducing the waste that chokes our marine parks. By embracing conserving water, and reducing environmental pollution, we can build a resilient world where both people and nature flourish, ensuring a healthier planet for future generations.
This is one simple way but one that is going to change the world forever. It is to stop drink container pollution, which consists of plastic, aluminum and or steel, plastic bottle lids, plastic labels and glass. You can make this change happen by just simply signing this petition. To not only help yourself and future generations but those in need, where your rubbish might be the only way some can afford food. Or your signature is the only way to save whole ecosystems and species. It's not just about saving tides, there are also lives.
