The Issue

The Maze at Cleethorpes Pier Gardens was more than just an attraction; it was part of the original character and charm of our beloved town. In 2024, the council removed this historic feature, citing reasons like anti-social behaviour, which they had largely ignored until that point, and to allow local habitats the freedom to nest. But removing the Maze wasn't right. The Council made this decision without properly consulting the community, leaving many of us unaware until it was already gone.

This Maze was an iconic part of Cleethorpes, a place where families gathered, children played, and visitors from other towns came to experience a piece of our unique heritage. With benches and tables set up, people enjoyed relaxing there and indulging in classic fish and chips, while kids would run through the Maze’s paths with joy. It lent a sense of charm and history that is deeply missed by both locals and visitors alike.

The Council pointed to years of anti-social behaviour as the cause for the Maze's removal. But the truth is, this behaviour went unchecked because the necessary actions to prevent it were not taken. They could have improved safety measures by deploying PCSO’s, park rangers, or wardens to manage the area, especially where Pier Gardens meets Alexander Road and Sea Road.

We aren't asking for the impossible. We understand the importance of preserving local habitats, but this can be done in conjunction with maintaining our heritage. We propose the duplication and return of the Maze, designed with sensitivity to both community needs and environmental concerns. Perhaps on a nearby suitable piece of land where it doesn't interfere with nesting habitats.

Let us work together to restore this vital part of Cleethorpes' identity and community spirit. We are urging the council to listen to its residents, past visitors, and those who hold Cleethorpes close to their hearts. Your support is crucial in showing the council how much the Maze meant to us all, and how its return could once again enrich the community experience for both locals and tourists.

Please bear,in mind to bring back the Maze ,we require to stop the heavy exscavation planned  in the Pier garden town end Pier Gardens,,so if your Serious ,it may be in your Interest to sign My other Petitions

Request the Council put a stop on the  Current works in the Pier Gardens town end of Cleethorpes,  write to the project manager ,at North east lincolnshire Council to request an emergency stop to the works ,which have already started,,otherwise there will be a Skate park where the Maze was instead.Do not  put it off , if its what you want do it now.

The Council would only be able to do this, if you object to the new proposals for a Skate Park,as that is in the location the Maze was, and  state you would like town end Pier gardens to remain as they were  ,objecting  unnecessery exscavtions.
