Retain the Original Animation Style for Shrek 5

The Issue

Like many fans worldwide, I grew up with the Shrek series and the original animation style is deeply embedded in my memory. This unique animation has consistently filled our hearts with joy and laughter in the past four films. Today, we are alarmed by the news that the upcoming Shrek 5 is adopting a new form of animation which deviates from the original style we came to love. This change not only strips off the familiarity we've come to associate with Shrek, Donkey, and the rest of the characters but also feels like it strips away a part of our childhood.

Changing the animation style of a beloved character can have far-reaching implications. In a study published in the Journal of Consumer Research, changing a well-known character's appearance can create a strong emotional backlash from the audience, thereby affecting the success of the franchise (Journal of Consumer Research, 2017). This potential dissatisfaction is not only limited to individual fans but could translate into lower box-office returns for the producers.

Given the love and respect for the original Shrek animation style, we urge the creators of Shrek 5 to reconsider their decision. By signing this petition, you are calling for the preservation of the original Shrek animation we have grown fond of. Let's keep our childhood memories intact. Please, join us and sign this petition.
