Dear ex-Teck Whyeans, 

I believe most of you have heard of the recent news regarding the merger of TWSS and CCKSS. It is known that this merger will retain CCKSS name while using the premises of TWSS (Click here to read). 

REASONS WHY I THINK TWSS NAME SHOULD HAVE BEEN RETAINED:

1. Teck Whye Secondary School started back in 1966, while Choa Chu Kang Secondary School only started in 1992. This shows that TWSS has a richer history as compared to CCKSS.
   
   
2. With a long history, TWSS has witnessed much more batches of students graduating and creating many successful individuals/stories. Having said that, I believe many wonderful memories have been created within the walls of Teck Whye and it is such a pity to see it gone just like that (History of TWSS).
   
   
3. It is actually quite confusing for people with the fact that the English name is CCKSS while the Mother Tongue language, Chinese name is 德惠中学 (For Malay and Tamil, might have to check). Moreover, since it is located in Teck Whye, I believe it will be more appropriate for it to be known as Teck Whye Sec.
   
   
4. To preserve the Teck Whye history and legacy as a historical place in Singapore, having the school name TWSS will allow future generations to know more about Teck Whye's existence in Singapore.

I know it will be difficult for the ministry to change its decision. However, I do wish that even if we are unable to change the name, this petition will still serve as a virtual gathering of ex-Teck Whyeans for one last time before the official merger.
