The explanation behind taking out plastic straws is their negative effect on our seas and marine untamed life. Straws don't get in the recycling sorter since they are so little and lightweight. So they become discarded as trash. Most plastic straws just break into ever-more modest particles, delivering synthetics into the dirt, air, and water that are hurtful to creatures, plants, individuals, and the climate. More than 1 million marine creatures (counting vertebrates, fish, sharks, turtles, and fowls) are killed every year because of plastic flotsam and jetsam in the sea. At present, it is assessed that there are 100 million tons of plastic in seas around the globe. Most plastic straws are made of polypropylene and not acknowledged by most recyclers. Most plastic straws are harmful and cancer-causing.

TOP POINTS

1. Paper, glass, and metal straws are more cost-efficient, safer (no chemicals like the disposable ones), and better for sealife/people/environment.

2. Plastic straw making companies will convert to better options in the US first (because the US is their biggest priority), and will naturally convert to other countries as well.

3. There is no need to worry about the spread of sickness in restaurants because if they clean their silverware well enough, the straws will also be clean. If that still bothers you, paper straws are an alternate.

4. Straws are one of the smaller problems in plastic pollution, but it is a good start to moving forward. The average person uses 1.5 straws a day, resulting in 500 billion straws thrown out yearly. By 2050, there will be more trash in the oceans than sea life.

Although banning plastic straws isn't a big change in plastic pollution and animal welfare, it is a start. We should use paper, glass, and metal straws instead.
