The Issue
Development at Former Pub Site (TA2 7RX)
A famous fast food chain has bought the land at the old O'bridge site. Several concerns about this development including but not limited too:
- Increased traffic and road safety risks
- Noise, particularly during evening and late-night hours
- Potential drive-thru operation and associated disturbance
- Light pollution from signage and extended opening hours
- Litter and anti-social behaviour
We, the undersigned, request that the Council:
- Confirm what planning permission (if any) applies to this site. Currently there is no publicly available information regarding any of the development.
- Clarify whether a drive-thru and late-night opening have been approved
- Ensure any development is subject to appropriate conditions to protect local residents
- Investigate immediately if works are proceeding without proper authorisation
We believe that the space for a fourth local fast food chain restaurant is highly inappropriate for the use of this land.
After speaking to the council, it has been confirmed that the only approved use of the land currently is to change the inside of the site. No permission has been given to demolish or instal a drive through or a 24 hour timeframe. In order to do this, separate permission is required and a consolations .
