The Issue

This situation is personal to me. My daughter was recently affected, as an individual was taking pictures of her at the gym without her informed consent. It's distressing when personal privacy is violated in this way, in a public environment where one should feel safe.

In the digital age, it's become easier than ever to take photos without a person's knowledge, and while in some public places it's generally seen as acceptable, the privacy implications are alarming. We're proposing a change to regulate public photography, requiring explicit consent before any individual's photo is taken in public.

A statistical report from the Office for National Statistics UK indicates that 1 in 5 women have reported experiencing some form of stalking in their lifetime, a portion of which included unwanted photographing. We believe this reinforces the need for regulatory change and the updated respect for personal boundaries and privacy.

We kindly urge you to sign this petition. Let's insist on the respect for personal space and integrity and end the unconsented photographing of individuals in public places. Your signature can help catalyze this necessary and respectful change.
