Widespread concern has been raised by numerous individuals, including myself, regarding the potential inappropriate contact between prison guards and inmates. This fear penetrates the hearts of many who have loved ones, friends, or family serving time. Women with male partners, brothers, or sons in male populated prisons are constantly worried about the possible occurrence of intimate relations between the inmates and the female prison guards. This concern is not just distressing, it is morally wrong and disappointing.

A change urgently needs to be made to address this issue and build a more secure, respectful, and appropriate prison environment. Therefore, we invoke the authorities to restrict the prison guard positions to same-sex inmates. We believe that doing so will significantly decrease any potential for inappropriate contact and encourage a respectful, professional atmosphere within our penal institutions.

Although cross-gender supervision is not solely responsible for all instances of sexual misconduct, a study from the US Department of Justice found in 2012 that the odds of female staff sexually victimizing male inmates were three times higher than their male counterparts (Source: US DOJ, 2012).

Let's stand up against this ongoing issue that compromises the security and integrity of our prison system. It's time to place ethics and decency above all else in our effort to maintain law and order. We strongly urge you to support this cause for change. Please sign and share this petition.
