We, the residents and daily commuters of Panvel and surrounding areas, are writing to urgently request immediate traffic regulation measures on the NH-48 stretch between Kon Chowki and Palaspe Phata.

This 4 km stretch serves as a critical transit corridor connecting Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, and Pune. It is heavily used by office-goers, school transport, emergency vehicles, and public commuters. Additionally, more than 20,000 residents from nearby housing complexes depend on this route for their daily travel.

At present, the situation has become extremely challenging due to:

Ongoing and delayed road expansion work
Simultaneous construction of a bridge within the same stretch
Increased congestion during monsoon conditions
Continuous movement of heavy container trucks during peak hours

These factors have resulted in severe traffic congestion, causing delays of at least 45 minutes for just a 4 km stretch during morning peak hours. The situation is further aggravated by poor road conditions during rains, increasing the risk of accidents and endangering lives.

There have also been growing concerns regarding road safety, with multiple instances of near-fatal and fatal incidents due to unmanaged traffic flow and heavy vehicle congestion.

Our Key Request:
We respectfully urge the concerned authorities (Traffic Police, NHAI, and District Administration) to implement a restriction on the movement of heavy container trucks and similar large vehicles during morning peak hours, specifically between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM on this stretch.

Expected Benefits:

Significant reduction in peak-hour congestion
Improved safety for commuters and pedestrians
Reduced travel time for daily commuters
Better traffic management during ongoing infrastructure works
This is a temporary and practical measure that can bring immediate relief while long-term infrastructure projects are being completed.

We request urgent intervention to ensure safer and more efficient mobility for thousands of citizens affected daily.

We appeal to the authorities to take swift action in the interest of public safety and commuter welfare.

Sign this petition to support safer roads and smoother commutes on NH-48.
