I've played Call of Duty since the PS2 and have since been passionately involved with the series. But, as a totem of the gaming community, I've positioned myself on the sidelines since the launch of Call of Duty Cold War. Unsettling changes to the game's blueprint have transformed a product we loved into an almost unrecognizable experience. Cosmetic add-ons, excessive advertisements, and the requirement for extensive microtransactions to create a compelling game have steered the franchise off course. This isn’t the alienated series that once brought together a community, across the world, united in the love of a shared gaming experience. 

This misuse of treasured game aesthetics and the needless influence from other trends, such as Fortnite-like features, is stripping Call of Duty of the essential elements that made it special. Although Call of Duty's annual revenue saw a significantly increased after it started imitating games like Fortnite, I believe bigger profits have come at the cost of losing loyal fans, like myself. 

It's high time that we take a stand for purity in gaming, appreciating experiences that are complete, immersive, and true to their roots. Let's urge Activision to restore Call of Duty to its original glory, remove excessive advertisements, limit the cosmetic additions disrupting the immersive experience, and release complete, satisfying games without depending heavily on content updates and microtransactions.
