The Issue

Calling all Pratt Trojans!!! We are presented with an opportunity to restore our beloved mascot, the Trojan, back to its rightful place at Pratt Elementary following the recent retirement of the principal. The transition of the mascot from the esteemed Trojan to a Cardinal was carried out abruptly, without prior notice or consultation with the community or the proud alumni of Pratt Elementary and Pratt Junior High.

The Trojan mascot has been a symbol of our strength, unity, and tradition for 94 long years. It has witnessed generations of students walk through the halls, fostering a school spirit that binds us all together. This legacy is not just a part of our history; it is a vibrant thread in the fabric of our community's cultural identity.

The abrupt change undermines our shared history and dilutes the spirit that generations of Pratt alumni hold dear. The Trojan stands for perseverance, bravery, and excellence — values that we want our children to embody as they pursue their education at Pratt Elementary and Pratt Junior High.

We understand that mascots are more than just symbols; they represent the heart of a community. The choice of a school mascot should involve thoughtful discussion and community involvement, ensuring everyone’s voice is heard, respected, and valued. We believe that reverting to the Trojan mascot aligns with our core values and honors the legacy of those who came before us.

By signing this petition, you are taking a stand to support the restoration of the Trojan mascot, preserving the rich legacy and promoting unity within our school community. Together, let’s make our voices heard and bring back the spirit of the Trojans to Pratt Elementary School!
