The Issue

🟠 RESTORE THE ROCK: A CRY FROM SOUTHWEST LITTLE ROCK
Reclaiming a Community, Reviving a People
This is more than a building.
This is more than a campaign.
This is a cry for help.

An Empty Building, A Silent Warning
In the heart of Southwest Little Rock, a historic school building stands silent.
The former Cloverdale Middle School — once filled with the voices, struggles, and triumphs of our children — now sits empty, its hallways echoing a community’s unmet needs.

But now, the Little Rock School District plans to sell this property to a charter school.

We say: Not yet. Not like this. Not without us.

What Our Community Needs Is Not Just Another School
This is not an attack on education.
This is a defense of true impact.

Charter schools are often praised for their polish, but too many have proven to be hollow — lacking the infrastructure, programs, and purpose needed to nurture the whole child.
They are not rooted in the neighborhoods they claim to serve.
They do not offer shelter for the youth who are suffering in silence.
They do not address the violence, addiction, poverty, and trauma swallowing our children whole.

We are not against learning.
We are fighting for healing.

Our Vision: A Social Center for the Community
In response, we are organizing a movement to transform the Cloverdale space into something far deeper than another academic institution —
a Social Hospital.

This is not a medical facility.

It is a refuge — a space where young people, families, and neighbors can come to be seen, heard, and healed.
A place for growth, mentorship, recovery, and renewal.

We are bringing together local partners and change-makers committed to building a better Southwest Little Rock — from the inside out.

We believe in support, not judgment.
Programs, not punishment.
Opportunity, not abandonment.
The building may be empty, but our vision is full.

A Cry That Has Gone Too Long Unanswered
This effort is deeply personal.
HOME Teen Youth Center was founded by a woman who lost her sister to gang violence.
That tragedy birthed a mission — to make sure no other young girl, no other family, has to experience that same pain without someone in their corner.

We’ve cried out for years: to churches, schools, city leaders, police officers, and state agencies.
But the silence has been louder than our pleas.

Now, we are crying out to you.

We are the boots on the ground.
We see these kids every day — walking alone, growing up too fast, aging out of systems that never served them to begin with.

Some have parents who are working three jobs, or none at all.
Some have no parents left.
They have only the streets — or us.

We choose to be their someone.

✊🏽 What We’re Asking
We’re asking you to stand with us, as we stand for:

✅ A moratorium on the sale of Cloverdale to allow community-led alternatives
✅ Public recognition of the needs and voices of Southwest Little Rock residents
✅ Letters of support and endorsements from public figures, churches, educators, and citizens
✅ Donations and partnerships to back a vision built with the community — not against it

This is not just a proposal —
It is a movement.
And movements need momentum.

🧡 Restore The Rock
We are not just saving a building.
We are saving the potential it holds for every child who walks past it, wondering if their city still cares.
