This petition is deeply personal to me, as I believe that naming a national park "Devils Tower" invites negative spiritual connotations into our country. The current name is not in line with our nation's motto, "one nation under God." Attributing any evil to the likes of Jehovah God, who I believe created such a magnificent creation of nature, seems insulting.

The native American tribes who revere this location originally gave this national monument the name "Bear Lodge." A misinterpretation during an expedition in 1875 led to the current name, "Devils Tower," which has persisted since then despite its deceptive implications (source: National Park Service). 

Not only would renaming it to "Bear Lodge" honor its original cultural significance, but it would also eliminate any unfavorable spiritual connotations attached to the current name. Let us honor our heritage and uphold our spiritual values by restoring the original name of this magnificent natural wonder.
