Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society says that they only accept students in the top 10% of their class--they have been known to accept members whose GPAs are all over the map as long as they're above 3.0! They claim to give "the average student $2,500 a year in scholarships". According to one of many articles I've come across on this topic, that figure has been known to be questionable. AND they say that they promote access to $246 million in "exclusive" scholarships. According to the same article, a lot of these are scholarships that anyone can get! I'm a new member and grateful for my nomination, but am deeply unappreciative of and concerned about the misleading claims and monopolization of Phi Theta Kappa at the expense of students' money, time, and integrity to values whether knowingly given or not. I DEMAND that Phi Theta Kappa stop these schemes IMMEDIATELY and start behaving like a decent honors society that ANYONE can be proud of joining, even if it means firing their current CEO!
