We are calling on the U.S. Department of Education and Congress to restore protections for transgender students in our schools.

Recently, the federal government ended agreements that helped protect transgender students in several school districts. These agreements made sure schools took basic steps to treat students with respect, like using their names and pronouns and allowing them to use appropriate facilities.

Now, those protections are gone.

Some schools have already started rolling them back. Others are left without clear guidance. And students are left to face the consequences.

For transgender students, this is not abstract. It affects how they are treated every single day. It affects whether they feel safe walking into a classroom, speaking up, or simply being themselves.

No student should have to wonder if they will be respected at school.

This is a moment that calls for clarity and leadership. Students need consistent protections, not uncertainty. They need to know that no matter where they live, they will be treated with dignity.

We urge the U.S. Secretary of Education and members of Congress to act now to restore these protections and ensure every student is safe and respected.
