Restore original licensed music format in sports classes
The Issue
Since the 1st of September, the motivation and enthusiasm of many members at our local sports centre have been significantly affected. It all changed when the music, once a crucial and invigorating part of our fitness classes, was commercialised. Before this, music had the power to energize, inspire, and drive us through even the most challenging workouts. However, with the shift to a non-licensed format, the magic of those classes has sadly faded.
The vibrant, high-energy music that was meticulously curated to push us to our personal bests has been replaced with tunes that lack the same impact. This change not only diminishes the enjoyment of the classes but also the effectiveness of our workouts, leaving many of us feeling disheartened and less inclined to participate. The previous licensed format was more than just background noise; it was a critical element that contributed to a collective atmosphere of motivation and camaraderie.
A study by the University of Wolverhampton found that listening to music while exercising can increase endurance by up to 15%. The right music tempo and style can make all the difference in physical performance, and the psychology behind this is well-documented in numerous fitness studies. Therefore, our plea is based not solely on preference but on the substantiated benefits that high-quality, licensed music brings to our fitness and overall well-being.
We request that the sports centre management considers reinstating the previous licensed music format. The cost of licensing should be seen as an investment in the members' experience and satisfaction, rather than an expense. By restoring this format, the centre will not only uplift its current members but will also likely attract new participants, wanting to be part of an engaging and dynamic fitness community.
Please sign this petition to help us bring back the music that truly makes a difference in our fitness journey and our lives.
