Restore News is my Business’ Facebook Access

Restore News is my Business’ Facebook Access
The Issue
To the Corporate Secretary of Meta,
1 Meta Way
Menlo Park, CA 94025
We, the undersigned, call on Meta to immediately restore access to the Facebook page of News is my Business and the personal account of its founder, journalist Michelle Kantrow-Vázquez.
On August 12, 2025, Meta disabled administrative access without warning, citing an “age restriction” violation. Despite the submission of valid government identification, no explanation or timeline for resolution has been provided. This action has silenced an independent newsroom that has served Puerto Rico’s business community for 15 years, cut off more than 15,000 readers from daily economic news coverage, and disrupted advertising campaigns supporting local businesses.
Meta’s opaque process undermines press freedom and disproportionately harms Puerto Rico’s economy by depriving its business sector of vital information. News is my Business has a record of compliance and verification on other platforms, making this decision especially damaging and unjust.
We urge Meta to:
- Reinstate access to the News is my Business Facebook page and Ms. Kantrow-Vázquez’s account.
- Review its internal procedures to ensure legitimate news organizations are not silenced without due process.
- Establish clear communication channels for journalists and outlets impacted by account restrictions.
Press freedom and community access to vital economic information are at stake. We demand that Meta act swiftly to correct this error and restore access.
Signed,
