Restore Music Education in Johnsonburg

Restore Music Education in Johnsonburg
The Issue
Right now in Johnsonburg, we technically still have a music program, but we do not have a qualified music teacher. Our previous teacher is no longer with the district, and we now have a substitute without a background in music. Because of this, students are often left trying to teach themselves and help each other.
Band and choir used to be places where we could actually learn and grow. Now, it feels like we do not have the support we need to improve or succeed.
Music education is an important part of school. It helps students build creativity, discipline, and teamwork, and it gives people a place to belong. For many of us, it is one of the only classes where we feel confident and motivated.
Even before this, our choir only met a couple of times a week, during study hall, and lessons sometimes took place during other classes. It was already hard to make progress, but we made it work because we cared. Now, without a qualified teacher, it is even harder.
Music is not just a hobby. For some students, it is a future career. It should be treated like any other class, such as art or computer.
We are asking the Johnsonburg Area School District to hire or reinstate a qualified music teacher so students can receive the education they deserve and rebuild a strong music program.
By signing this petition, you are supporting and helping students have access to a qualified music teacher as soon as legally possible.
