Restore in-person blended learning at eCademy High School

The Issue

The decision by APS to dismantle the blended learning program at eCademy High School has left a void for countless students, including my own siblings and many other families. It has significantly reduced the vibrancy and engagement level of our school community. As participants in the now-defunct program, we cherished the opportunity to partake in a hybrid model that combined the best of in-person interaction with the flexibility of online learning.

Prior to this abrupt change, there were varied activities, events to anticipate, and a real chance to form meaningful connections within the school environment. The in-person aspect, even for an online-focused institution like eCademy, fostered a sense of belonging and community. Not only did this enhance educational experiences, but it also encouraged active participation in extracurricular activities.

The removal of the blended program also led to the unfortunate cancellation of lunch and breakfast offerings, which were essential for many students who rely on school meals. In light of these changes, our school's activities and student engagement have diminished, leaving a palpable void in our vibrant community.

I urge APS to reconsider and restore the in-person blended learning program. If a full reinstatement is not possible due to constraints, I propose alternative solutions, such as weekly food distributions for virtual learners or a part-time in-person schedule to maintain student interaction and access to essential services.

Please join us in the revival of our beloved program! Your support can remind our school administrators of the importance of flexibility in education and communal support for all students. Let us bring back the activities, the events, and the sense of community that we sorely miss. Sign this petition and make a real difference in preserving the educational quality and student welfare at eCademy High School located at 5300 Cutlerr Avenue NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110.
