Restore Hull Road Park's Beck to Its Former Glory

Restore Hull Road Park's Beck to Its Former Glory
The Issue
I have lived alongside Hull Road Park for over 40 years, a place that has been a source of joy and tranquility for my family. It was here where I took all five of my children and grandchildren to feed the ducks and enjoy the wildlife. However, over time, this cherished spot has lost its charm due to lack of maintenance and changes made.
The beck in Hull Road Park used to be teeming with life. The weirs retained water which attracted ducks and other wildlife, creating an ecosystem that many generations enjoyed for many years. Now there is hardly any water left and no ducks to feed.
Furthermore, there was plans underway to remove the railings along the beck. This is not only detrimental to the aesthetics but also poses a safety risk as accidents could occur without these protective barriers.
We urge our local council not just restore the weirs but also cancel plans on removing railings. we are now informed that these plans have been canceled in order to maintain its natural beauty while ensuring safety for park visitors.
According to research by Natural England (2016), parks like ours play an essential role in community wellbeing by providing spaces for physical activity, relaxation, and nature appreciation. By restoring our park's beck back into its former glory will not only bring back our beloved wildlife but also contribute positively towards community health.
Let us preserve this piece of nature that holds so many memories for us locals while creating a safe environment for future generations too. Please sign this petition urging authorities take immediate action on restoring Hull Road Park's Beck.
