Restore Glenwolde Pond
Restore Glenwolde Pond
The Issue
To the Village of Tarrytown Board of Trustees
THE PROBLEM: The Glenwolde Pond is no longer functioning as a drainage vessel. Neglect has led to two critical points of failure:
- Shoreline Recession: Massive accumulation of leaves and silt on the east side (near 5 Glenwolde) has caused the pond to recede, significantly reducing its water capacity.
- Inlet Blockage: The stone carve-out that feeds the pond is constantly clogged with organic matter. This prevents water from entering the pond, causing it to flood the surrounding area and seep into our basements.
THE RESPONSIBILITY: The Village of Tarrytown is the party liable for the maintenance of this pond. By failing to dredge the basin and clear the stone carve-out, the Village is allowing municipal water runoff to damage private property.
OUR DEMANDS: We, the undersigned residents, formally request that the Village of Tarrytown:
Dredge the pond to remove the sludge and organic material that has caused the east-side recession.
Clear the stone carve-out and implement a schedule to keep it free of debris.
Protect our homes by ensuring the pond can properly manage the water channeled from uphill.
