The Issue

"We should be outraged"

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) plays a vital role in safeguarding our nation’s digital infrastructure, including election systems, critical infrastructure, and public services.

But recent budget cuts and staff reductions under the Trump administration and DHS have critically weakened CISA’s capabilities, leaving the United States more susceptible to cyberattacks and foreign interference.

Experts, including former CISA Director Chris Krebs, have expressed grave concerns over these cuts, emphasizing the increased risks to national security:

Cybersecurity is national security. We all know that, right? That’s why we’re here. That’s why we get up every morning and do our jobs. We are protecting everyone out there. And right now, to see what’s happening to the cybersecurity community inside the federal government, we should be outraged. Absolutely outraged.

The dismantling of key cyber programs and the loss of experienced personnel compromise our ability to defend against sophisticated cyber threats.

We call on the Trump administration and DHS immediately restore full funding to CISA, ensuring it has the resources necessary to fulfill its mission.

Reinstate critical cybersecurity programs that have been dismantled or defunded.

The security of our digital infrastructure is not a partisan issue; it is a matter of national security.
