Restore Full Family Visitation at Delaney Hall — Now

The Issue

Family visitation at Delaney Hall, the ICE detention facility in Newark, New Jersey, has not been fully restored. Families are walking half a mile through police blockades just to reach the gate. Visits aren't starting until 4 p.m. Mothers who drive two hours to see their husbands are still being made to wait for hours in the heat — or turned away entirely.

This is not acceptable. Restore full visitation. Now.

Detainees inside have been on hunger and labor strike for weeks protesting conditions that members of Congress who visited described as shocking the conscience — inadequate medical care, unsanitary living conditions, and food unfit to eat. Restricting family access on top of all of that is not a security measure. It is punishment for speaking out.

These families have done nothing wrong. Children have done nothing wrong. Every detainee has the right to see their family. Every family has the right to see their loved one — without walking through a police perimeter, without waiting until late afternoon, without being used as leverage against people who dared to protest their conditions.

We're calling on ICE and GEO Group to restore full, unrestricted family visitation at Delaney Hall immediately — with normal hours, without barriers, and without using family access as a weapon.
