The Issue

Owning Le Petite Parisien on Dunmow's high street has been a dream come true for us. We've had the immense privilege of basking in the support of our wonderful community ever since we opened our doors. However, the recent decision to not install Christmas lights to the high street threatens to dim the festive spirit that we, along with other businesses, residents and community groups strive to bring to this town.

Christmas is a time of joy and togetherness, and the high street's lights are not just decorations; they are symbols of hope and festivity for both residents and businesses. The lights encourage people to visit the high street, boosting the local economy during the critical holiday season. Without them, there's a risk that both our community and local businesses will suffer.

The festive lights help create a magical atmosphere that invites families, friends, and visitors from near and far to enjoy the wonders of Dunmow. They foster a sense of belonging and celebration that we all need, especially during the holiday season.

We propose a collaborative solution where local businesses and the council work together. We are sure that businesses, like ours, are willing to contribute both financially and logistically to see Christmas lights return to the high street. This partnership will ensure that Dunmow glows brightly this festive season and draws people in, boosting morale and commerce alike.

Together, we can find a way to restore this cherished tradition and bring Christmas magic to Dunmow once again.

Please sign this petition to show your support for bringing back the Christmas lights and ensuring that Dunmow shines brightly this season.

EDIT NOTES -26.09.25 - the mayor and town council have become really engaged in our little christmas campaign. By request I have removed references to the town council not engaging as it was potentially came across inflammatory. We have exceeded the goal within 24 hours so impressed with Dunmow.
