I’m sure we have all been impacted by individuals who should never have been allowed back into society; dangerous criminals who undermine the safety and peace that every community deserves. The justice system's failure to effectively deter these individuals from committing heinous crimes means they continue to threaten our loved ones and the fabric of our society.

Reintroducing capital punishment is an urgent matter not only because it serves as a necessary deterrent for the most severe crimes but also because of the significant economic burden we bear from keeping these individuals incarcerated. Housing a single prisoner costs taxpayers hundreds of thousands of pounds over their lifetime. In contrast, more cost-effective measures, like capital punishment, demand serious reconsideration. To put it bluntly, we spend millions in costs, whereas the tools needed for capital punishment can be as simple and inexpensive as £6 for some rope (caveat: that last sentence: a bit of satire). 
In addition to being fiscally responsible, reimplementing capital punishment can bring closure to victims’ families and serve as a strong message that society will not tolerate its worst offenders. It is essential that the justice system supports the victims and their families, providing them with a sense of justice and resolution that current methods fail to deliver.

While some may argue the ethics of capital punishment, it's important to acknowledge the precedents in favor of it when it comes to dealing with the most dangerous criminals—those who are unrepentant and pose a continuous threat to others. It's about prioritizing the rights and safety of the community as a whole.

I urge lawmakers to consider both the economic and social impacts of reintroducing capital punishment, taking decisive action to protect society while also managing state resources responsibly.
