The B30 Metrobus provides quick, efficient, and inexpensive service between the Greenbelt Metro Station and BWI airport. This is the only WMATA connection to the airport. Unfortunately, in response to budget cuts in 2017, WMATA significantly reduced service frequency on weekdays and completely eliminated weekend service, making this connection far less useful and sabotaging ridership.

A more rational approach would have been to modestly increase the low fare. The B30 bus provides a critical link between the Washington DC area and BWI airport, invaluable for both air travelers and airport workers. Slashing this sole WMATA connection to BWI airport made no sense and is an embarrassment to our region. 

I urge elected officials and WMATA to restore weekend service and increase service frequency to more reasonable levels. This could be achieved through additional funding for this route and by modestly increasing the fare.
