Our beloved town of Roann has always held close its values of being a small, family-oriented, and conservative community. We pride ourselves in these values and a testament to this has been our ability to foster a harmonious living environment for all residents. Recently, the proposal of introducing a package liquor store in Roann has raised concerns. Many fear this development could potentially disrupt our town's culture and future. According to data compiled by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, increased availability of alcohol often correlates with a growth in alcohol-related problems, from public disturbances to increased incidences of driving under the influence (NIAAA, 2020). While we respect the concept of free commerce, we must consider the wider impact on our community. We, therefore, beseech the relevant authorities to consider these risks before permitting the establishment of a liquor store in Roann. We urge all residents who share this sentiment to make our voices heard by signing this petition.
