Resignation of Hockey Canada CEO Scott Smith, his leadership team, & Board of Directors.

The Issue

Canada is facing a national crises.

Hockey Canada is under investigation by the Standing Committee on Heritage for covering up sexual assault allegations from 2018 and paying off an alleged victim who filed a $3.5 Million lawsuit against Hockey Canada, the Canadian Hockey League and 8 "John Doe's".

Canadians across the country are demanding the resignations of Hockey Canada CEO Scott Smith, his leadership team and the entire Hockey Canada Board of Directors.

The issues involving Hockey Canada's deplorable actions deeply effects all Canadians and places Canada under an International microscope.

Since the investigations into Hockey Canada began in June 2022, Canadians have learned of secret slush funds in the millions of dollars which Hockey Canada executives used to pay off the alleged victim with money intended for registration fees.

As investigations continued, the Globe and Mail discovered more secret bank accounts opened by Hockey Canada using registration fees intended to be used to pay for player injury claims instead was used to pay for legal fees of Hockey Canada Directors and Officers so to avoid using insurance money.

Since the lawsuit that was filed by the alleged victim, Hockey Canada CEO, Tom Renney resigned (not retired).

A few months prior to that, in December 2021, the head of Hockey Canada Insurance, Glen McCurdie resigned (not retired) after almost 34 years with Hockey Canada.

The New CEO, Scott Smith who has been VP of Hockey Canada since 1998 and took over the CEO position from Tom Renney, who himself took over from Bob Nicholson in 2014 after Nicholson resigned (not retired) despite being Senior VP, President and CEO of CAHA / Hockey Canada since 1989.

Bob Nicholson continues to be VP of the IIHF and CEO of (Edmonton) Oilers Entertainment Group and sits on the board of directors of Bauer, Performance Sports Group despite that being a major conflict of interest as CEO of Hockey Canada and VP of IIHF.

It's evident that Hockey Canada CEO's, Presidents, Directors and Officers should no longer be allowed to Police themselves and go unchecked. There are no systems in place for proper checks and balances and because of this disturbing business model, Canadians have been the subject and victims of decades of abuse by this group of individuals and the organization.

This petition is calling for the immediate resignation of Scott Smith, CEO of Hockey Canada, his leadership team and Hockey Canada's Board of Directors.

Please do your part and protect Canadians and Canada's national interest and Canada's National Sport of Hockey.

We as Canadians are better than this and we are now called upon to prove it on an International level.

Thank you in advance.
