Rebecca O'Neal started this petition to Residents of Sandridge VFD

Last night, the Firefighters and Officers of Sandridge VFD regret to inform our community that after numerous attempts on our part, we could not come to a working relationship with our board. This challenge has been on-going for months, and we feel we cannot properly protect the community, or ourselves under the leadership of our current board. Because of this, the majority of the department resigned tonight. The department no longer meets the requirements of Berkeley county to provide fire protection in our district. It will be supplemented by our surrounding departments. As volunteers who care very deeply for our community, this truly breaks our hearts. We hope we can work with the county to ensure we get the fire protection the community deserves as soon as possible.

The board has several family members that sit on it - which should be an ethics violation in of itself!  For the volunteers to have to take this kind of stand is unfortunate!  Now is the time for us to take a stand!  Without the Sandridge Volunteer Fire Department - response times will be longer, which can mean the difference between life and death!  They have worked tirelessly to improve community relations (they built a wheelchair ramp for a resident with Operation Home - FREE of charge!, when a resident notified the chief that there was a family member who would most likely need medical attention, the Chief went in to action and secured an AED (NONE of the AEDs were operational - something the former chief AND board ALLOWED to happen!!).  We have volunteers who are willing and ready to jump in to be our heroes during our darkest hours and worst days!  It's time we stand up and be THEIR heroes!  This board has GOT to go!!

Sign this petition letting Councilman Pinckney know that there needs to be a new election to put a new board back in to place - Chief Demmerle back at the helm and the brave men and women of Sandridge Volunteer Fire Department back to their home!
