THANK YOU ALL FOR STICKING WITH US TO FIGHT FLAMINGO 640! Sorry for the delay in this post. We have been busy!

Below is a summary of what we gathered in the Q&A between Robott Land and the Community at the 8.15.22 HVCC Meeting
And, in recent news, here is the link to more answers provided by them since.

Next HVCC Meeting is Monday September 19th at 3PM, Landers Belfield Hall

Here is what we gathered from 8.15.22, these notes summarizes from our own and community member Peo.

Robott Land does not really care about what the community here thinks about this project, it is solely up to the building committee to decide if this will pass or not. We sense that the owner will flip it and see how much he can get through permit-wise. In response to selling the parcel, he said "I'd rather stay involved but i dont have an answer to that." They will just about meet any requirements that are needed to make this pass. Also, they have seen this petition and don't seem to care that there are over 4300 signatures on it.

REMOVAL OF JOSHUA TREES
They will build around the Joshua Trees, remove at least 34!, and are waiting for the October decision about if they can move or cut down more Joshua Trees where the septic will be.

FIRE
Firepits will probably be built exactly to SoCal's proximities.

TRAFFIC
They have lied about that there will be approx 100 trips a day. In reality, it is probably something like 600-800 trips a day. 300 guests + 50 employees and then those guests will probably go in and out at least 2 times a day. Robott Land is selling hard that this is a location that is close to Pappy and Harriets, La Copine, Joshua Tree park etc..

Making them have to rebuild Old Woman Springs road with a turn lane and traffic lights might be very costly for them.

EIR under CEQA Report
Still no EIR Report under CEQA conducted. In the meeting Chris Clarke mentioned that legal issues that will come up from this. In Spring 2020, Robott Land hired their own person to do a biological survey who didn't gather any sightings of wildlife and therefore, put together a negative impact report. Robott Land says they know this also doesn't mean wildlife isn't there. They specifically mentioned their biological survey did not show any sign of desert tortoises or any other wildlife of concern, although we and other neighbors here have submitted images to the California fish and game commission of desert tortoise sightings on April 25 and May 30, 2020, the same Spring 2020 as their "study" was done. Is there any way we can conduct an EIR report ourselves and pay an independent licensed person to do it and present it to the building committee?

SEPTIC LEACH FIELD
Also, why are they allowed a leach field for so many people when we residents aren’t even allowed to hook up our RVs to our septic tank? What if we could push that they have to pipe out all the greywater?

AFFORDABLE HOUSING
The housing situation / rental opportunities are not of SBC’s concern or Robott Land's. Supervisor Dawn Rowe from SBC made that very clear, she said that it is not SBC’s responsibility to house people who cannot find a rental property out here. And I have a feeling that the building committee will disregard any concerns about that.

EMPLOYMENT
Wages for workers are probably not of a concern either, they will pay minimum wage and I doubt the building committee will take that into consideration too.

OTHER POINTS
  - no music venue - scrapped from plan
   - helipad will be for emergencies only (maybe all the traffic accidents caused from their crowds) for private or for public: may be available for the community
    - yoga deck
     - restaurant
     - water sourced from big horn homestead water (landers aquifer? i didn't get this part )
    - 20 chalets each 850 sq feet
- their plan mentions it is a 10 minute drive to the park entrance, which is just laughable
- something new we learned, apparently the whole land used to be occupied by a female native tribe
